The Future is STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Education!

  • Environmental science jobs are the fastest growing jobs in all the sciences
  • 78% of companies say a candidate’s knowledge of the environment is critical in the hiring process
  • 29% of all U.S. computing jobs will be filled by graduates from U.S. schools
  • Workers with a STEM background earn about 26% more than non-STEM
  • 4 out of 5 STEM workers decided to study STEM in high school

16 Ways The Environment Matters In STEM Education

The future is STEM. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics are quite clearly some of the fastest-growing job categories around. That’s according to a recent U.S. Dept. of Commerce report that showed STEM jobs growing at nearly 8 percent over the past decade. That’s about three times as fast as non-STEM jobs.

But where does the environment fit into STEM? When you think of STEM courses and jobs, you don’t immediately think of how they impact the environment. That’s all about to change thanks to a fabulous new infographic from the National Environmental Education Foundation.
