International Accord to Reduce HFC- Damaging Pollutant

Nearly 200 nations reached a deal to limit use of hydrofluorocarbons (HCF) the fastest growing climate pollutant used in air conditioners and refrigerators. Experts say this is the fastest way to reduce global warming. This agreement is legally binding and it caps and reduces the use of HCFs beginning in 2019.

Environmental groups had hoped the deal would reduce global warming  by a half degree Celsius by the end of the Century.

It is estimated that the agreement will cut global levels of HFC by 80 to 85% by 2047 and experts hope that market forces, driven in part by consumer education and demand, will speed up the limits agreed to in the deal.

It seems that global  public needs more information so they can make wise product choices in air conditioner and refrigeration products and in inhalers and insulating foam.
