Donations, Taxes and Earth Protect
All of Earth Protect’s partners are nonprofit environmental and sustainable development charities. They have supplied us with information confirming they have filed and been accepted by the appropriate government body in their country as a nonprofit.
Our US nonprofit partners have IRS 501 (c)(3) status, which means that every donation you make is tax-deductible. So you are not only providing very valuable financial support to their mission or a special campaign but you're also receiving the benefit of a deduction to apply to your taxes. Of course, you will want to consult your own tax or financial consultant regarding personal financial matters. Deductions for charitable contributions are available to US citizens, resident aliens and non-resident aliens when calculating income, gift and estate taxes. A charitable deduction is also available for corporate taxpayers.
Global giving has become important to most philanthropists. However, if you contribute to an international cause through an organization that is not registered as tax-exempt with the IRS, you will not receive a tax deduction. If you give through an organization that is registered with the IRS, you will receive a charitable tax deduction.
Donors from other countries will need to consult government or tax/financial advisors on their countries laws regarding tax deductions for donations to charities.
When you make a donation through our site, be sure to save and/or print the confirmation e-mail you receive for your tax and personal records. Of course, you will want to consult your own tax or financial consultant regarding personal financial matters. You will also want to do your own due diligence in making donation decisions.
Disclaimer: The nonprofit organizations that have been accepted as Earth Protect environmental and sustainable development nonprofits have declared to us that they are organized and operating in compliance with the laws of their country. Earth Protect does not confirm that declaration. The information in their listing was provided by them. You should evaluate them yourself as you consider becoming involved with them. For United States based nonprofits you may find helpful information on how to evaluate nonprofits in general and on the nonprofit you are interested in at www.guidestar.org and through the Better Business Bureau http://www.bbb.org.
Earth Protect does not officially guarantee that any of the nonprofit organizations referenced on the Earth Protect website are suitable for support or engagement. If you desire to support, financially or otherwise, any of the organizations referenced on the Earth Protect web site, it is your responsibility to conduct due diligence and make your own determination as to the suitability of that organization for your support.
