Entangled Right Whale Lives to Swim Another Day

A 6 year old endangered right whale was found caught up in a huge mass of fishing gear. Thankfully the Campobello Whale Rescue Team found him in time. On this team was Joe Howlett. Joe has dedicated countless hours to the rescue of whales in the Bay of Fundy and the surrounding waters of eastern Canada. He died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 after rescuing a critically endangered North Atlantic right whale. IFAW is proud to partner with the Campobello Whale Rescue Team and its incredibly skilled responders. Joe lived and breathed that mission, and thanks to his tireless dedication, he saved dozens of whales over the last 15 years. After five hours of grueling work, this right whale was freed -- and will go back to enjoying the plankton in the Bay of Fundy. Building a Better World for Animals and People - Visit
