June 21, 2010 -- The Larry King Live Telethon "Disaster in the Gulf: How You Can Help" will help our neighbors in the Gulf region of the United States that have been badly affected by the rush of oil droplets that are invading the brush, beaches and way of life in the area. The states that have been touched by this disaster include Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida.
While the BP Oil spill continues and the funds to help the people and animals are being set up, the ides behind the Larry King Live Telethon is to raise awareness about the situation and get funds there now (and not like two months from now.)
The funds are going to three groups, donors can pick one of their choice:
The Nature Conservancy: The Nature Conservancy is a leading conservation organization working around the world to protect ecologically important lands and waters for nature and people. The Conservancy and its more than 1 million members have protected nearly 120 million acres worldwide. About National Wildlife Federation: The National Wildlife Federation is America's largest conservation organization. The Federation was formed in 1936 and since then has been a voice for wildlife throughout the United States. With 47 state or territorial affiliates and more than 4 million members and supporters, About United Way: United Way is a worldwide network in 45 countries and territories, including nearly 1,300 local organizations in the U.S. It advances the common good, creating opportunities for a better life for all. Our focus is on education, income and health -- the building blocks for a good quality of life. United Way recruits people and organization who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done.
