We're doing something that no-one's ever done in Australia before – bringing together youth organizations and thousands of individual young people to be a political force to be reckoned with on climate change. Our mission is to build a generation-wide movement to solve the climate crisis, through uniting diverse youth organisations around this common challenge. Through our member groups, we inspire, educate, empower and mobilise young Australians to take action on climate change. We coordinate, communicate and network with each other, and run shared projects and campaigns. AYCC has only been around since November 2006, but in that time we've grown in leaps and bounds – starting a national 'Switched On Schools' program, sending 2 youth delegations to the United Nations Climate negotiations, running campaigns like our current "Your Targets = Our Future" and using the media, creative actions and youth lobbying like our 'Adopt a Politician' campaign to ramp up the pressure on our pollies to do much more to protect our future from climate change. AYCC is entirely youth run and one of the most strategic, dynamic, well-networked and powerful youth organisations in Australia. Coalition building is hard – all our member and partner groups are working on different issues – but the one thing we have in common is that climate change affects our future. We are a strong and unified youth voice calling for urgent climate action commensurate with the seriousness of the problem.
