SPECIES EXTINCTION, DEPLETION OF VITAL RESOURCES, AND INCREASING POVERTY ARE ALL DRIVEN BY TOO MANY HUMANS TAKING TOO MUCH FROM THE EARTH.

Nearly all seven billion of us are in DENIAL that we’re overpopulated and in DELUSION that infinite growth on a finite planet is possible -- to the dire detriment of ALL living things on the planet.

TRUE SUSTAINABILITY REQUIRES BOTH LOWER CONSUMPTION AND FEWER PEOPLE.

It is crucial that high consuming nations dramatically REDUCE consumption -- while the world’s poorest must INCREASE their consumption to live a life of dignity. TRULY sustainable global population is in the range of one to two billion and less than 150 million in the U.S.

WE MUST HUMANELY REDUCE POPULATION TO A TRULY SUSTAINABLE LEVEL.

If we fail to humanely help population decline -- by fewer births -- we will suffer INhumanely with more famines, conflicts, wars, disease, misery, suffering and early deaths. It has to start with awareness and understanding of these grim realities. As concern about our overpopulation crisis increases, humane results -- involving fewer children and smaller families -- will become easier to agree upon and accomplish.

Our Vision We envision a world where no one suffers in dire poverty and misery for lack of enough food, water, and other basic needs. We see a world where all species thrive and where lower consumption and population are in balance with Earth’s finite resources. Our Mission We alert, inform and educate that overpopulation is a root cause of resource depletion, species extinction, and rising poverty. To avoid more misery, catastrophe, and death, we advocate and support a smaller, truly sustainable population.

Key programs & initiatives

We present our message through public presentations and conferences, appointments with elected officials, written articles, our web site, newsletter, media interviews, and advertisements. World Population Balance members come from across the political spectrum. Many members are strongly pro-life and others are pro-choice. We respectfully agree to disagree about many issues, including abortion, in order to focus time and energy on achieving a sustainable global population.
