Five Ways to Protect The Planet in 2015

2014 was a better year for some in the world, but we still have a long way to go before we can say we are protecting the planet. We wanted to end this holiday weekend with setting some resolutions for 2015 that all of us can partake in and find a reason to stand up and protect the planet more. Needless to say we all need to participate in protecting our planet so pick up some of these reminders, share them with friends and family and keep your promises to create a cleaner, greener future.

1. Use less plastic and recycle

The worlds oceans are filling up with plastic and its become so bad predications for how much plastic are simply astonishing with mirco-plastics being the biggest problem for fish populations and therefor us. Use less plastic and recycle more is only one of the small steps you can take, a bigger step is to eat less fish because well, the studies also show if you eat fish and they are eating plastic you are eating plastic in your fish. Don't use plastic bags, carry a bottle of your own for water and drinks and stop wasting plastic and throwing it away. If you need to use plastic then recycle carefully.

2. Eat Less Meat

Meat consumption is one of the biggest contributors to global warming and climate change. We understand you might not want to give up eating animals but think about the water and waste consumption and maybe you could stand to loose a few pounds but going veggie a few days a week. The simple fact is eating meat often is not sustainable and the global live stock industry produces more greenhouse gas than all planes, trains and ships COMBINED and is the biggest contributor to global warming.

3. Clean Up Trash

We all could use a little kindness and cleaning up the trash. On the west coast we clean the beach but all of the garbage that pollutes our streets almost all ends up in streams, lakes and waterway. So the new year challenge is to take 2 mins a week or day if you are really a go geter and clean up the trash where ever you are. You might even find that cleaning up your neighborhood of sharing your new challenge will become contagious. Kind acts and cleaning up trash is infectious and makes others feel good about where they live.

4. Drive Less - bike more

Yes your car like it or not is making the world a dirty place and just riding your bike to work help relive the strain on the system. It will also help you look and feel better. So put down the keys and grab your bike.

5. Think about protecting the planet

We know you care enough to be here and reading this list so yes you care. Now get into action. Whatever passion you have to protect animals, cut down pollution, become more sustainable then please go for it. We need everyone to help protect the planet. So please JOIN us here at Earth Protect and share your story.

Have a great year and take care of each other and the planet.
