BigBelly Solar Announced Jim Norrod as its new CEO

NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BigBelly Solar, the leader in intelligent waste and recycling collection, today has announced Jim Norrod as its new CEO and as a member of its Board of Directors. Norrod has more than a quarter century of CEO experience and been instrumental in a number of highly successful transactions for the companies he has lead in the past. Already established as the pioneer of intelligent waste and recycling collection for the public space, BigBelly Solar is adding Norrod to the organization to propel it to the next level of growth and success.

“During our first ten years, BigBelly Solar has changed the way thousands of cities, universities and organizations run a critical but resource-intensive part of their operation, saving time, money and fuel while reducing their carbon footprint,” said Jim Poss, Founder & President. “Bringing Jim Norrod onto the team will help our company turn its second decade into one that is exponentially more successful and impactful in creating positive changes for our growing customer base.”

Most recently serving as President & CEO of Infinite Power Solutions, Norrod has also served as the top executive at Segway Inc., Xanoptix Inc., Cignal Global, Octocom-Telebit-ITK, Adage Inc. and CGX Corporation, leading many of those companies to successful acquisitions or mergers. Norrod’s proven track record of success was instrumental to his selection.

“Growing promising businesses based on game-changing technology has been the most exciting and rewarding aspect of my career,” said Norrod. “While BigBelly Solar has been remarkably impressive so far, they have only begun to scratch the surface of the total opportunity and I am honored to have the opportunity to guide them to even greater achievements.”

BigBelly Solar has also added another luminary to its Board of Directors with Brian M. Barefoot coming aboard. Barefoot is a Senior Advisor at Carl Marks & Co and previously served as President of Babson College after working in the financial services industry including executive roles at PaineWebber Inc. and Merrill Lynch & Co.

“While serving as President of Babson College, I saw thousands of entrepreneurs trying to change the world with their inventions and business plans,” said Barefoot. “It is an honor to serve on the Board of one of those companies that has actually done that, particularly one with such far-reaching success that has made a positive impact in so many areas.”
